ABOUT BIRDS OF THE WORLD

THE STORY

Birds of the World was founded out of the conviction and passion of Manuel Quiroga —engineer, Master of Science, wildlife photographer, PhD candidate, and environmental educator— to use visual storytelling as a force for conservation. After 25 years working in international cooperation in the fields of environment, water, and climate change, Manuel decided to dedicate his craft and skills to a higher purpose: reconnecting people with nature through photography and education.

Over the last years, he has built a collection of thousands of bird photographs across multiple continents and shared his vision through biodiversity lectures and workshops titled “Nuestros Amigos Silvestres” held in Bolivia, Timor-Leste, and Papua New Guinea. As an environmental columnist for the Post Courier in PNG, he writes about birds, ecosystems, and sustainability, translating science into narratives that move and inform.

Since 2022, his photographs have been featured in thematic calendars published in Timor-Leste, Bolivia, Germany, and Australia, followed in 2025 by special editions dedicated to Birds of Paradise and Birds of Papua New Guinea. His work has earned international awards in Australia, Belgium, Bolivia, and Timor-Leste.

Birds of the World is more than a store — it is a statement of purpose. Each photograph is not only an aesthetic experience but an invitation to see, to feel, and to care. With every image shared, a message travels with it: nature does not need admirers — it needs allies.
